starting points by trade

Pick a direction. We build from there.

Choose your trade, a look, and a colour, and the preview redraws with the widgets that trade actually needs. Nothing here is a theme you get dropped into. It is the brief our agents start from, and the first draft comes back the same day.

    the short answer

    Does askotter use website templates?

askotter does not sell templates and does not drop a business into a theme. The site is built from a description of the business or from the URL of the site it already has, and what a visitor picks on askotter.ai/templates is a starting brief rather than a finished layout: a design direction, a colour palette, and the set of page components that trade needs, such as an emergency call strip for a plumber or a financing estimator for a dental practice.

    Read the full answerShow less

An agent builds the first draft from that brief and from the business's own facts, a person reviews it, and the owner approves it before anything is public. The practical difference from a template marketplace is that two dental practices starting from the same direction do not end up with the same site, because the copy, the page structure and the components are built from what each practice actually does. Pricing is $99/mo self-managed and $600/mo managed. A business that wants to browse hundreds of finished themes and edit one itself is better served by Squarespace or Wix.

    why the widgets change

A plumber and a med spa need different pages.

The part of this that matters is not the colour. It is that the visitor arrives in a different state depending on the trade, and the layout either serves that state or loses them. A burst pipe at 2am and a considered decision about injectables are not the same visit, and a site that treats them the same converts neither.

    Stressed and in a hurry

Plumbing, HVAC, garage doors, pest control. One tap to call, an open-now line, flat prices, and the towns you cover. Anything decorative is costing you the call.

    Worried and reading carefully

Dental, chiropractic, veterinary, physical therapy. Insurance answered as text, costs stated plainly, a face and a credential, and booking that works with one thumb.

    Comparing over a fortnight

Med spas, salons, landscaping, roofing. The gallery is the argument, the price menu filters the enquiries, and a membership turns one visit into twelve.

    Buying standing

Law, accounting, financial advice. Years in practice, the fee model stated without hedging, case results where your rules allow them, and a named person to call.

    what it costs

The build is in the monthly price.

There is no design fee, no setup fee and no separate build cost. The site gets built, hosted and then kept current, and on a managed plan it transfers to you after six months.

You drive the builder and ship the changes Whiskers suggests. The platform does the analysis.

    questions

    Questions about design directions

Are these real website templates I can download?

No. They are design directions rather than downloadable themes, and the difference is what you get afterwards. Picking Classic with a navy palette tells our agents how the site should feel; the pages themselves are then written from your services, your prices, your hours and your service area. Two dental practices that both pick Clinical do not end up with the same site. If what you want is a theme file to edit yourself, Squarespace and Wix sell that and sell it well.

Can I change the design after the site is live?

Yes, and it is a message rather than a project. "Make the headings serif" or "try the navy palette" goes into the same text thread as everything else, a preview comes back showing the change, and it publishes when you reply yes. Rolling it back afterwards is another message.

What if my trade is not in the list?

The 23 trades here are the ones with a component set written for them. Anything else still gets built; it just starts from the closest direction and a conversation about what the page has to do rather than from a prepared list. Describe the business and the first draft comes back the same day.

    Do I own the design?

You own your domain and your content from the first day. On a managed plan the site itself transfers to you after six months. There is no template licence to keep paying for and nothing that stops working if you leave.

Can you match my existing brand colours?

Yes. The palettes here are starting points, and the custom colour picker in the studio takes any hex value. If you have brand guidelines, send them and the agents build to those instead. If you have a logo and no guidelines, the palette gets drawn from the logo.

Will a template-built site rank as well as a custom one?

Nothing here is template-built, so the question underneath it is whether a fast-built site can rank. It can. What decides that is structure and content: one page per service instead of a single services page, real questions used as headings, prices and service areas written as text where a crawler can read them, and schema that matches what is visible on screen. All of it is built in from the start, whichever direction you pick. The monthly SEO work is what moves it after launch.
