Which marketing brings in paying customers?
Every ad platform takes credit for the same customer. Google, Meta and your email tool can each claim one booking, and they cannot all be right. You need one count you can trust.
How askotter handles it
askotter reads Stripe and Klaviyo side by side, so it can trace each payment back to the marketing that earned it.
A person checks the result before it reaches you. This is part of our Google Ads management work.
How Stripe and Klaviyo records line up
Stripe and Klaviyo both store the customer's email address. askotter lowercases and trims it on both sides before matching, so the same person shows up as one customer across the two tools.
Shared between the two: the customer email address.
What revenue attribution uses from each
Revenue attribution needs a way to connect a touchpoint to a payment.
From Stripe that means charge amounts matched to the customer email. From Klaviyo it means email clicks with their UTM tags.
Klaviyo is on the integration roadmap, so the matching described here starts when that connector ships.
What each tool sees on its ownShow less
Stripe on its own
Stripe knows the payment, the amount and the customer's email. It has no record of the ad, search or email that brought the customer in.
Timing. Stripe records each charge, refund and failed payment as it happens. Payouts land on a schedule days later, so charge date and payout date differ.
Access. A restricted, read-only Stripe API key, or Stripe Connect.
Klaviyo on its own
Klaviyo sees who received, opened and clicked. It credits revenue by its own attribution window and cannot see sales that happen off the store it is connected to.
Timing. Klaviyo logs sends, opens and clicks as events. Apple Mail Privacy Protection preloads images, so open counts run high and clicks are the steadier signal.
Access. A Klaviyo private API key with read-only scopes.
