A dental site is judged on a phone, in about six seconds.
Most dental websites are built to look like a practice. This one answers the four questions a patient has before booking, before the page finishes loading.
What should a dental practice website include, and what does one cost?
askotter builds dental websites around four things a patient checks before booking: insurance, cost, previous work and whether they can book without phoning. Each procedure with real search demand gets its own page, insurance carriers are named in text, and online booking sits above the fold on mobile.
- What it costs
- $99/mo self-managed and compute-metered, $600/mo managed, $1,000/mo with paid channels. No separate build fee.
- How it is changed
- By text message. Changes come back as a preview, and nothing publishes without a reply.
- Not for
- Practices needing a bespoke brand identity designed from scratch, practices wanting a site they will never change, or groups needing a custom patient portal.
Four questions, before anything else.
Watch a patient use a dental website on a phone and the sequence is the same every time. Most sites answer the fourth question and none of the first three.
| Attribute | Where most sites fail it | What the page does instead |
|---|---|---|
| Do you take my insurance? | A row of carrier logos, or a sentence saying most plans are accepted. | Carriers named in text, with what happens if theirs is out of network. |
| What does it cost? | No number anywhere, and a form asking them to call. | A range on each procedure page with what moves it, and a financing page linked from the point where the price appears. |
| What does your work look like? | A stock photograph of a model with perfect teeth. | The practice’s own cases, with consent, compressed and lazy loaded. |
| Can I book without calling? | A contact form that promises a callback within one business day. | Real availability, above the fold on mobile. |
The structure underneath it.
A page per procedure
For the procedures with real search demand behind them.
A page per town
One per real service area, built on the practice’s actual drive times.
Provider pages
One per dentist, carrying their own credentials.
Speed on mobile data
Images compressed and lazy loaded, render-blocking scripts removed, fonts subset.
What the traffic actually looks like.
From the practice’s own Google Search Console, recent 90-day window, pulled 17 September 2026.
pandmd.com
Property total, all devices.
Property total, all devices.
Distinct URLs with at least one impression in the window.
The subset of those URLs that earned at least one click.
Google Search Console, the practice’s own property, pulled 17 September 2026. Windows compared: 17 Sep – 15 Dec 2025 against 19 Jun – 17 Sep 2026, 90 days each. Nothing on this card is modelled or projected.
- Three quarters of it is a phone
- Mobile accounted for 1,728 of the 2,320 clicks in the recent window. A dental page that is slow or hard to tap on a phone loses most of its traffic rather than a slice of it.
- The long tail does the volume
- Pages earning a click went from 20 to 76. The implant-complication questions, the location pages and the service-by-town pages each earn a handful, and the handfuls are what moved the property total from 950 clicks to 2,320.
Two prices, one loop.
The analysis is the same on both plans. The difference is who ships the change.
You drive the builder and ship the changes Whiskers suggests. The platform does the analysis.
