Medicare wellness visits

The yearly Medicare visit that sets your prevention plan for the year.

Medicare covers an Annual Wellness Visit once every 12 months at no cost to you. We review your medications, check memory, balance and fall risk, and write a screening plan for the year ahead. If you are new to Medicare, your first visit is the Welcome to Medicare exam.

We accept Original Medicare and most Medicare Advantage plans in the area. If a problem comes up that needs treatment at the same visit, we tell you first, because that part may carry your usual copay.

Common questions

Is the wellness visit the same as a physical?

Not quite. The Medicare visit focuses on prevention planning and does not include a full hands-on exam. Many patients book both with us.

Can a family member come with me?

Yes, and it often helps. They are welcome in the room for the whole visit.
