People with diabetes need a dilated eye exam every year, and we send a report to your primary care doctor afterward. Glaucoma monitoring, eye infections, injuries and sudden changes in vision are also medical visits, billed to your health insurance or Medicare.
For a red, painful eye or a sudden change in vision, call (555) 010-9340 and we will usually see you the same day. For sudden loss of vision, go to an emergency room.

Why does my vision plan not cover this visit?
Vision plans cover routine exams and glasses. Diabetes, infections and eye disease are medical problems, so those visits go to your health insurance.
