A full exam checks your prescription, the health of the front and back of the eye, and eye pressure for glaucoma. We take a wide-field retinal image at every exam, which in most cases lets us see the retina without dilating your eyes, so you can drive home and go back to work.
Most vision plans cover one exam a year with a copay of $10 to $20. Without a plan the exam is $120, and the retinal image is included. We recommend a full exam every one to two years for adults and every year after 60.

Common questions
Will you need to dilate my eyes?
Usually not, thanks to the retinal imaging. If the image shows something we need a closer look at, we may dilate, and we tell you first so you can plan the drive home.
How long does the exam take?
About 40 minutes for the exam, plus time to pick frames if you want new glasses.
